Reaching Diverse Audiences

Sean Sceery October 3, 2019 America by The Numbres  Five main points that summarize the "essence" of the video are: 1.) Hispanic populations are growing 4 times faster than any other ethnic group. 2.) By the year 2045, the demographic of America will no longer be majorly white. 3.) Millennials make up a quarter of the population in America, 1 in 5 are Latino. 4.) Minority social involvement, including voting or employment, has strikingly increased in the last couple years. 5.) The media needs to switch up their advertising and marketing strategies. It needs to stop focusing on a specific demographic and focus on the entire population as a whole. What mass media channels and internet sites (including social media) would you use to reach Hispanic women (Millennials 23-38) in the U.S. Why? Sean Sceery September 1st, 2019 1.)  Based on the video, what are your thoughts and reactions on how popular culture portrays PR? Popular culture plays an immense role in our society, and has for years. From films and television shows to music and sports, popular culture has a large influence on public opinion. Based on the video, I believe that pop culture portrays PR professionals in mostly negative  ways. Television and movies are the main source of Public Relations portrayal. People view PR professionals as annoying and selfish who do not care about any others concerns except their main goal. Sean Sceery August 29th, 2019 What is Public Relations? Public Relations, in opinion, is maintaining healthy relations between the public eye and a company or an organization. Building good public image is duty of Public Relations. 

PR History: Grunig and Hunt's Four Models

There are four models of Public Relations. They were all created by very influential men known as the "Four Fathers of Public Relations.  The first model of Public Relations is known as the 'hype and press agentry' which was created by Phineas Taylor Barnum. P.T. Barnum focused on using a variety of crazy and unusual stunts to attract the most attention. The shock factor gave him a name. An example of this is when paraded elephants and camels over the Brooklyn Bridge to test its strength to show the public that the bridge is safe. This is defientely an event that caught a lot of public attention. In my opinion, this model is a more fun one, considering all of the crazy ideas incorporated into this Public Relations strategy.  The second model of Public Relations was created by Ivy Lee, called 'facts and info'.
